Ash Wednesday 🙏🏽

Ash Wednesday, is the first day of the Lenten Season, or “Lent”, a time when Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting , repentance , and moderation. Ash Wednesday falls 40 days before Easter (Sundays are not included in the count), observed this year on February 17th. On Ash Wednesday, many Christians attend religious services where ashes of palm fronds collected from the previous year’s Palm Sunday are mixed with holy water and placed on the forehead with the sign of the cross. Ash Wednesday has a long history, practiced in the Anglo-Saxon church as early as the 10th century, and becoming universal throughout Western Christianity in 1091, with ashes symbolizing mortality, humility, and repentance. For those that observe this day, may your Ash Wednesday be a time of reflection and promise.
